Collaboration and Discussion Threads
EVA Netmodeler provides features that enable you to include threaded discussions in any item in the repository. This is particularly useful when EVA Netmodeler is used to support team based projects that produce outputs that
require some sort of collaboratino between project members to create or review deliverables.
This facility can be use in either of the following modes:
- General discussion forums
In this mode you could create a type specifically to manage discussion threads, for example a type called Discuss. The type would probably only have one property - the Discussion Thread itself.
Each item of this type would become a discussion. Additionally, you may decide to classify the discussions by adding to the type definition a legal relationship type to a type such as Subject Area, or Business Unit.
- Item specific discussions
Often it is preferable to tie the discussion closer to a repository item being discussed. In this case, a discussion thread property can be added to the definition of the type if item. For
example, you could create a discussion thread property called Review Comments and include it in the definition of the Artifact node type. This will enable users to record their review results or any Artifact item as a
threaded discussion. This provides a visible, permanent record of the review process of each artifact.
Discussion thread properties are displayed in most browsers as the first few characters of the discussion, followed by a discuss button.
Clicking the button opens a Discussion Browser focussed on the discussion, similar to the one below.
