Dates and Times in EVA Netmodeler

The Archi Date data type

EVA Netmodeler stores dates in the form of a four digit year, two digit month and two digit date. Dates are normally displayed in the form:

CCYY/MM/DD e.g. 2005/08/12  for the 12th August 2005.

When a date is entered, you can use a variety of formats:

  • You may enter years as two digits or four digits
  • You can enter months in full e.g. August
OR in abbreviated form e.g. Mar
OR as one or two digits
  • You can use other separators than those chosen for display
    e.g. 2005-1-20

EVA Netmodeler validates dates upon entry. If a date is not entered or is invalid, it will be stored and interpreted as UNKNOWN. This is important - you will not be forced to enter a "valid" date when it is unknown (e.g. the finish date for a project when you are busy setting up the initial plan). It is sometimes more accurate to have an UNKNOWN date value. EVA Netmodeler will handle these correctly in calculations too - if any calculation using a date as a source value finds an UNKNOWN value, the result will also be UNKNOWN.The Calendar Browser has a feature to display items where the start or end dates are UNKNOWN, so that these can be easily located for updating when information becomes available.
