Database Connection Configuration

The EVA Netmodeler Server will look in the Archi.ini file at startup to determine the name of a database connection to use. This DSN should correspond to an ODBC DSN configured in Windows. A separate DSN and database pair is required for each concurrent copy of EVA Netmodeler

Configuring a Windows DSN

This is achieved through the Windows Control Panel. The DSN should be set up to point to the correct database and database management system or driver.  The DSN must be set up as a system DSN.

Configuring EVA Netmodeler to point to the windows DSN

By default EVA Netmodeler is configured to point to the correct DSN, so no further DSN configuration is required is you are using the default configuration. If you wish to use a different DSN configuration the Archi.ini file located in the Application directory can be changed to point to a different DSN. This is achieved by changing the DSN via the EVA Netmodeler server console. If EVA Netmodeler is running as a service, you would first have to stop the service, change the launch parameters to launch "head" so that the console is opened, and then modify the DSN. You cannot change the DSN directly in the .ini file as this file also contains the database password and is therefore encrypted. Refer to the section on Turning the Console on / off for further details.

Selecting Set DSN or Port from the console File menu will display the following dialogue. The default Evaluation Password is null. Set the properties to the appropriate values for your installation and select Save.

Head-DSN

After saving the new DSN details the EVA Netmodeler server application will reset the database connection and reload the system cache.

Default DSN for an Evaluation install is Archi Evaluation
