User Access Permission Report

Users in EVA Netmodeler gain permissions from a variety of sources, including:

  • Inheritance - Being part of a group which has permissions
  • Functional Permissions - relationships to Area Security items which control access to functions, features and interfaces in the tool
  • Content Permissions - relationships to types which control what a user may see or do relevant to a type. These are set up on the relationship between a user (or group) and Domain (or in the older model Default items of relevant types)
  • Menu Access - links to menus containing menu folders, favorite locations, reports, composite views and custom views. These can be direct or inherited from groups
  • Filters activated at logon time can modify what range of Items a user will be permitted to access from permitted types

It can thus be quite difficult to determine exactly what permissions a user will have once all the above are resolved. This tool provides an easy way to list the net set of permissions that a user (or all users) will have after all inheritance, relationships etc. are resolved.

The tool can be run on a User Group to determine what set of permissions will be accorded its members (in addition to other permissions they may acquire directly or through other group memberships).

It is possible to run the report for all users, but be aware that, in a large site, this can be a time consuming operation and will place a load on the server (logons are simulated to determine permissions).

Refer to the Security Model section for more information on how the EVA Netmodeler security model works.
